Effective from 30th May 2024

By using Walk or Sit My Pet’s services you agree to our Terms and Conditions, so please make sure you read them in full.

No variation of these Terms and Conditions shall be effective unless confirmed by Walk or Sit My Pet in writing and the client will have 28 days to accept or terminate the contract.

Booking

Walk or Sit My Pet agrees to hold a free meet and greet with the client and their pet(s) before any service is booked and reserves the right to refuse any booking.

Walk or Sit My Dog agrees to discuss additional requirements with the client. The client accepts that these will be carried out at the discretion of Walk or Sit My Pet and extra charges may apply.

The client agrees to explain their pet’s behaviour openly and honestly and disclose any harm, aggression or threatening behaviour shown towards any person or dog, so Walk or Sit My Pet does not put themselves, other people, or other dogs at risk.

Walk or Sit My Pet will not accept aggressive dogs and clients agree to fully disclose any characteristics that might make their dog unsuitable for walking.

Walk or Sit My Pet reserves the right to refuse any dog they consider potentially dangerous or disruptive.

The client agrees to notify Walk or Sit My Pet immediately of any unwelcome, aggressive, procreative, or dangerous behaviour of their dog with the potential to harm any other dog or individual.

The client understands that Walk or Sit My Pet will not walk female dogs in heat.

Walk or Sit My Pet reserves the right to refuse any unneutered dogs for dog walking.

The client confirms that all vaccinations, treatments, immunisations, flea/worm treatments, and licenses for the pet’s ownership have been obtained and are current.

The client acknowledges that even if their dog is vaccinated against Bordetella (Kennel Cough), they will not hold Walk or Sit My Pet responsible if their dog contracts Bordetella (Kennel Cough) while using their services.

The client agrees to immediately notify Walk or Sit My Pet of any infectious or contagious diseases or conditions their pet has been exposed to or is affected by. Walk or Sit My Pet reserves the right to temporarily pause services until it is satisfied that the condition has been resolved.

The client confirms that their dog is microchipped, and the dog’s microchip details are up to date.

The client agrees to ensure their cat is microchipped once it reaches 20 weeks old.

The client agrees to complete and sign the required forms for the services they have booked and return them to Walk or Sit My Pet before the start date of their chosen service.

Walk or Sit My Pet agrees to provide a copy of their Insurance Policy, Pet First Aid Certificate and Disclosure & Barring Service Certificate to the client on request.

The client consents to their pet(s) being photographed or filmed and used in any media or advertising by Walk or Sit My Pet without prior approval, with all such media remaining the property of Walk or Sit My Pet.

Collection and Handover

The client understands that the booked time for dog walking and pet visits is estimated only and whilst Walk or Sit My Pet will make every effort to arrive at the agreed time, 30 minutes should be allowed after the booked time slot for the dog walker or pet sitter to attend.

If the dog walker or pet sitter is unable to fulfil the service due to unavoidable circumstances, such as illness, vehicle breakdown, or extreme weather conditions, Walk or Sit My Pet will make every effort to provide a replacement dog walker or pet sitter at a time as close to the original appointment as possible. If a replacement is unavailable, Walk or Sit My Pet will notify the client and offer a full refund within 7 days.

The client agrees to ensure their dog has not eaten in the hour before pick-up by Walk or Sit My Pet to allow sufficient time to digest food before any exercise or play to prevent the potentially life-threatening condition Bloat (Gastric Torsion).

The client agrees to provide Walk or Sit My Pet with keys/access to their property for the agreed appointment and understands that failure to do so will result in the cancellation of that day’s service, which the client agrees to pay in full.

Walk or Sit My Pet agrees to keep all property keys securely, refrain from labelling them with address details, and return them upon request.

The client agrees that signing the Key Release & Return section will indemnify Walk or Sit My Pet in full against any liability arising from loss or damage to the property or its contents in present or future circumstances.

When visiting the client’s home, Walk or Sit My Pet will follow the client’s instructions when locking and securing the property.

The client accepts that Walk or Sit My Pet is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged leads, collars, tags, clothing, or other items left with their dog.

Care of Pets

Walk or Sit My Pet agrees to provide a high level of service to the client and perform the agreed services in an attentive and caring manner.

Walk or Sit My Pet agrees not to walk more than four dogs at a time.

The client agrees to provide their dog with a suitable collar/harness, identity tag, and lead for the walk and understands that Walk or Sit My Pet will not walk any dogs without these items and will still charge for their service in full.

Walk or Sit My Pet will not be held responsible for any injury or damage caused by a poorly fitting or faulty collar or lead.

Walk or Sit My Pet will only walk dogs off-lead after the client consents in writing.

Walk or Sit My Pet agrees to towel dry dogs before returning them. If the client wishes to leave a drying coat or similar in the home for Walk or Sit My Pet to put on their dog after a walk, this can be done with prior agreement.

Walk or Sit My Pet offers services where dogs co-mingle in groups and the client accepts that their dog may engage in normal dog play. Walk or Sit My Pet agree to monitor all dog play carefully, but the client acknowledges that scratches, punctures, torn ligaments, or other injuries may occur despite the best supervision.

The client understands they leave their pets and home with Walk or Sit My Pet at their own risk.

Walk or Sit My Pet accepts no liability for injury, illness, or the death of any pet in their care and the client will be responsible for any veterinary fees incurred by their pet. The client is advised to insure their pet for all eventualities.

Walk or Sit My Pet accepts no liability for any harm caused to a person or another animal, damage to property or any injury the pet may sustain whilst in the care of Walk or Sit My Pet, whether as a result of any accident the pet may be involved in or otherwise.

The client agrees to cover all costs arising from any claim if their dog harms a person, or another animal, or causes property damage.

Walk or Sit My Pet is covered by third-party liability insurance, but it is recommended that the client takes out third-party pet insurance.

Walk or Sit My Pet agrees to administer medication per the client’s written instructions during pet visits or pet sitting.

Any treats provided by Walk or Sit My Pet are given at the client’s discretion and with their permission.

Charges, Payment, and Cancellations

Fees for all services are available on the Dog Walking and Pet Visits & Sitting pages. They are subject to periodic review and may be adjusted accordingly.

The client agrees to pay time and a half for services on Bank holidays.

The client agrees to pay Walk or Sit My Pet by bank transfer at least 24 hours before any service, or by leaving cash or a cheque in their home on the day by prior arrangement.

For recurring services, Walk or Sit My Pet may issue invoices to the client at the end of each month, with payment due within 7 days of receipt.

If payment is not received by the specified deadline, Walk or Sit My Pet retains the right to suspend services and impose a £2.50 late payment fee if payment is three days overdue. The client will incur a daily charge of £0.50 until payment is made in full.

The client will provide a minimum of 7 days’ notice via email or phone to cancel a dog walk, pet visit or pet sitting that is less than 5 days, or fees will be payable in full.

For pet sitting that lasts 5 days or more, including any dog walking and pet visits booked as part of this service, the client agrees to pay a 30% deposit to secure the booking.

The client understands that the deposit is non-refundable if the booking is cancelled within 30 days of the start date.

Walk or Sit My Pet reserves the right to cancel or shorten a walk due to extreme weather conditions considered unsafe for the dog or the dog walker. The client agrees to pay for the service in full in such cases.

For pet visits/sitting the client will provide all food, litter, and bedding, and if these aren’t available at the time of the visit, Walk or Sit My Pet may not be able to provide a full service and will charge the client for the booked service in full and any expenses incurred.

Refunds for pet sitting will not be given if the client returns before the expected end date confirmed at the time of booking.

Emergencies

Walk or Sit My Pet will endeavour to call the emergency contact provided by the client in the case of an emergency with their pet.

Should Walk or Sit My Pet deem veterinary assistance necessary, the client authorises them to take the pet to the client’s designated vet or the nearest one available, depending on the situation.

Walk or Sit My Pet reserves the right to act on behalf of the client and with a veterinary surgeon’s advice if they cannot get hold of the emergency contact.

The client agrees to pay Walk or Sit My Pet’s travel costs, any call-out charges, and veterinary bills in full immediately.

Termination of Service

The client and Walk or Sit My Pet agree to provide 7 days’ notice to terminate a recurring dog walking agreement. In the event of termination, the client agrees to compensate Walk or Sit My Pet with 50% of the week’s walks, calculated based on the average of the previous four weeks.

Walk or Sit My Pet reserves the right to terminate the contract immediately if any pet or owner displays aggressive, destructive, or unreasonable behaviour.

Any false or misleading information on the Dog Walking Contract, Pet Visits Contract, Pet Sitting Contract or Veterinary Release Form may lead to immediate termination due to violation of the agreement terms.

Walk or Sit My Pet reserves the right to terminate the contract immediately in the case of outstanding payment.
